Back on the new beer train, with a ton more ready to go in the fridge (I bought 38 individual new beers last weekend). The best of the bunch: Hermit Thrush Party Jam Passion Fruit.
Description: Extremely tart up front, with enough fruitiness in the finish to balance it, at least to the point that you aren't still puckering after putting it down.
What you should know: This is the 6th different fruit version of the Party Jam series that I've had, and all of them are 5 or 6 Shyoh's. It goes to show, get a great sour base, and you can easily make a whole bunch of different beers just by adding various fruits. Hell, they could even start mixing the fruits.
Recommendations: If you like beers that are very sour, grab any of these Party Jam's, and you'll be pretty happy.

I can't remember the last time I had 0 new beers in an entire week, but I managed to do that this week. Don't worry, I didn't go dry, I just had a stockpile from Tree House. The best: Very Green.
Description: Super dry, crisp, peppery, with a touch of citrus and sweetness in the finish. Goes down really fast.
What you should know: This beer is ultra-hyped (4.63! on Untappd), and it did not disappoint the first time I had it, or any time since. Tree House is doing online ordering now, and you have to be quick about it.
Recommendations: If you can spare some time for a contact-less pickup at Tree House, take a look at what they had the day before you want to order, set an alarm for 8:55am, make sure you put your order in by 9:02, and stock up for the next few weeks.

Beer of the Week: Hubbard's Cave El Zacatón

Finally got caught up, mostly thanks to drinking a whole bunch of repeats from Tree House, including a couple of 7 Shyoh's. Somehow, despite that, the best beer I had wasn't even from them: Hubbard's Cave El Zacatón.
Description: The first thing I thought when I had this was 'indescribably good'. I'll try anyway. Tons of flavor depth, with the spicy pepper flavor up front, but not enough to overwhelm. Nuttiness come through, probably because this uses almond flour instead of just the whole nuts - so it really seeps in there. Plenty of chocolate too, and a tiny bit of cinnamon. It also has vanilla, though I didn't specifically taste that.
What you should know: Hubbard's Cave is made by the same brewery as Une Année. Apparently they make really damn good beer in more than one style.
Recommendations: Seek this brewery out. Apparently you can get it delivered.

Beer of the Week: Nightmare Exposure

Still not all the way caught up, but I'm within 2 weeks now. The best I had out of the 20 or so quarantine beers I reviewed this week: Nightmare Exposure.
Description: This tastes like a concentrated IPA. Usually IPA's this strong (10.1%!) are way too sweet for me, but this had so much hop flavor that the sweetness wasn't really noticeable.
What you should know: This beer is named 'Exposure' because of the cryo process of preserving hops at extremely low temperatures. It's not disease-related, which is good, since I drank this during the quarantine. I'm not sure I've had a 100% cryo IPA before, but if this is any indication of what they're like, I'm behind the movement wholeheartedly.
Recommendations: I've now had 3 beers from Nightmare, and they've all been great, and somewhat unique. After having this one, I'm not sure if I'm more excited about having more Nightmare beers, or more cryo beers. I guess I'll just have to have both and report back.

Beer of the Week: Une Anneé Le Grande Monde 2019-9

Still not all the way caught up, but I have made it to the beginning of the quarantine. The best I had in the 2 weeks worth of stuff I added in the last week was pre-quarantine (I actually had it the same day as the previous BOTW): Une Anneé Le Grand Monde 2019-9.
Description: Intensely sour, with a hint of funk, and a good amount of grape flavor from the Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
What you should know: I had 3 separate flights on this same day at The Ginger Man, and this was by far the best beer. This is a series from Une Anneé where they release a different beer every month (hence the name). I want to try them all. I haven't had too many grape sours, but the ones I can remember have been pretty excellent - Trillium makes a bunch in their Fated Farmer series, and Tired Hands makes a series that made it as the 3000th special beer of the week. I might have to seek these out, since I love grape.
Recommendations: Really, anything from Une Anneé is amazing, so find something and fall in love. Also, if you've got a wine-loving friend who refuses to drink beer, find one of these grape/wine sours and begin the conversion process.
