Beer of the Week: Remnant Sour Sol

Before going away, I did some damage in my fridge, and even made one more trip to a home brewery. The best: Remnant Sour Sol
Description: Funky with a fruity tart background, finishing crisp and refreshing. Great summer beer that paired really well with bibimbap.
What you should know: Remnant puts saison yeast in many of their sours, leading to an extra layer of funk/spice that really take their beers to the next level.
Recommendations: Have a saison this weekend. It's an underappreciated style, and there are some great ones out there.

Beer of the (next) Week: Tree House Fudge

I'm going to be away next week, so I'm getting ahead of the game with a 2nd post this week. Hard to go wrong with Tree House, and although it wasn't the best beer I had, it was a close 2nd: Tree House Fudge
Description: Rich and chocolatey with hints of maple. Tree House describes this (and names this) like it tastes like fudge, but I say it's closer to ultra-chocolatey chocolate chip pancakes.
What you should know: My week 'away' is going to involve a lot of good beer tasting, so I'll have some different options from my usual stuff next time.
Recommendations: Ignore the fact that it's summer and sip on a stout. Maybe even two!

Beer of the Week: Quetsche Tilquin

I did an impressive amount of drinking this week. The best thing I had: Quetsche Tilquin
Description: Smells so sour that most people wouldn't be able to drink it. Well, I'm not most people, but it didn't taste nearly as tart as the smell. A little fruit in there too, with a pretty funky (in a good way obviously) aftertaste.
What you should know: I'd never heard of this brewery until this beer, but you can bet I'll be trying every single sour they make when I find them.
Recommendations: Mix in an import this weekend. Bonus points if it's Belgian like this one.

Beer of the Week: Tree House The King

This week involved a trip to Tree House, so obviously I had good options. Lots of new ones for me, including finally having a couple on draft there for the first time in about 18 months. The best is aptly named: Tree House The King
Description: This has it all. In no particular order (as the flavor profile seemed different with each sip): chocolate, banana, peanut butter, coffee, and toffee flavors all come through. Not too sweet, and it's rich, but not crazy. Perfection.
What you should know: 2 weeks in a row I've had a new 7 Shyoh beer. Hopefully I get to keep that streak alive. Good thing I have plans for a trip to a few different beer bars this weekend.
Recommendations: Find yourself a barrel-aged beer to enjoy at some point this weekend. The extra level of complexity will make you feel extra fancy.
