Tree House Brewing Company

Charlton, MA. We've had too many of these. This is page 2. See pages 1 and 3. Page 1 has a description of the brewery itself.

Pale Ale - 5.2% ABV

The combination of the flavor and the creamy texture make it seem like you're eating melon, not drinking a beer. Bonus: there's alcohol in it. If you don't like melon (specifically honeydew), you probably won't love this, but I do, so I could drink this all day.

Picture
Tree House Eureka w/ Mosaic
Blonde - 4.1% ABV
Pete
Crisp and peppery going down. Well after putting it down, it finishes with an extremely weird, almost peanut-buttery aftertaste, kind of like Rolling Rock. Not a comparison I thought I'd make, Tree House and Rolling Rock, but here we are.

Picture
Tree House Eureka w/ Nelson
Blonde - 4.1% ABV
Pete
A little bit of citrus, but I get a lot of pine and peppery-ness, which dominate the flavor. Way more flavorful than most blondes.

Picture
Tree House Extra Spooky
Imperial New England IPA - 8.3% ABV
Pete
Candied orange/clementine flavors dominate this beer, so it comes off as pretty sweet. There's a tiny hint of dank in the finish that balances it a bit. Damn good beer that I'd definitely like more if it was less sweet.

Picture
Tree House Fleeting Moment
Imperial Milk Stout - 9.6% ABV
Pete
Supposed to remind me of french toast drizzled in maple syrup. It definitely smells of maple. The flavor is dominated by cinnamon, with coffee and chocolate coming through, and just a hint of maple. It's ultra-rich, took quite awhile to drink. Another great beer, but I think some other complementary spices (maybe some nutmeg or even cardamom) would've made this truly special.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Force of Will
Imperial New England IPA - 8.5% ABV
Pete
It's fruity and sweet with maybe a little bitter grapefruit at the end. The sweetness up front is a tad too much for me, so this is definitely not my favorite. That said, it's still a Tree House beer, and they don't make bad ones.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Fruit Project Guava
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV
Pete
This tastes like Perfect Storm, but it's creamier, almost smoothie level thickness. Being compared to that beer is never a bad thing. This is incredible. The extreme thickness makes it a little less drinkable, but that's OK at this level of alcohol.

Tree House Fruit Project Mango + Stonefruit
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV

Tons of mango with a relatively dry finish. Hard to complain about that. Keeps you coming back for more quickly.

Picture
Tree House Fruit Project Passion Fruit + Peach
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV

Both passion fruit and peach are definitely there in the flavor of this one. A slightly dry finish with a hint of bitterness too. Really balanced IPA.

Picture
Tree House Fudge
Imperial Milk Stout - 9.2% ABV
Pete
Awesome. Super thick and chocolatey, and I taste maple, even though it's not in the description. Tastes more like pancakes with extra chocolate chips than it tastes like fudge, but I wouldn't complain about either of those.

Picture
Tree House Fudge w/Banana
Imperial Milk Stout - 9.2% ABV
Pete
Amazing. You definitely have to like banana to like this beer. It tastes like a banana covered in dark chocolate with a sprinkle of sugar. Fortunately for me, that sounds incredible, and this really hit for me. The dark one in the picture if you couldn't figure that out.

Ratings: Pete - 7 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Gggreennn
New England IPA - 7.5% ABV
Pete
This comes off as super dry and piney, with subtle fruit flavors, just like the original. Honestly, it's not that much different, but the original is great, so this one is too.

Ratings: Pete - 6 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Green
IPA - 7.5% ABV

Amazing beer. Subtle tropical fruit flavor underneath a somewhat dry piney beer. There's a touch of bitterness to it, but nowhere near what the 90 IBU's might suggest.

Picture
Tree House Guava Peach Hibiscus Tart
Fruit Beer - 4.8% ABV

I wish this was more tart, but it tastes like peach tea, so it's extremely refreshing. I wish I had had this outside when it's warm, but it was still good inside.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Haze
Imperial IPA - 8.2% ABV
Pete
Glorious beer. My first foray into the cult following of Tree House, and man was I not disappointed. It's described as a 'juice bomb', and it sure lives up to the hype. Definitely a ton of citrus, some tropical aromas/flavors in there too. It has a bit more carbonation than most, which leads to the flavor not lasting quite as long as your typical imperial IPA, but it's still there when you put it down. If you can get your hands on this, do it.

Ratings: Pete - 7 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Haze w/Peach
Imperial New England IPA - 8.2% ABV

Really aggressive on the peach flavor. I love that, but it does overwhelm some of the more subtle flavors of the original. I prefer the original, but I would be happy to drink this all day also.

Ratings: Pete - 6 Shyoh's

Picture
Tree House Hedonic Adaptation
Imperial Milk Stout - 9.1% ABV
Pete
Outstanding stout. Extremely dark in color but somewhat drinkable. Roasted caramel and dark chocolate flavors. I didn't get much coffee. Had to think about it, but coconut was there too. Hides the booze very well. A little expensive (was $12 for a 16.9 ounce bottle), otherwise I'd rate it higher.

Tree House Hello Cape Cod
New England IPA - 6.7% ABV
Pete
Not a good beer; not even just by Tree House standards: it's just not good. Too malty. If you're going to go malty in an IPA, it needs to be bitter too. At least it's not peanut buttery like Hello Western Mass.

Ratings: Pete - 3 Shyoh's

By far the worst IPA I've had from Tree House. It's actually bad. Tastes like malty peanut butter.

Tree House Hold On To Sunshine

Sweet chocolate with a touch of peanut butter. The sweetness lingers in the finish. You'll want to split this with someone, but it's quite delicious.

Tree House Homemade
Imperial Milk Stout - 9.6% ABV
Pete
Ultra chocolate-y, and definitely on the sweet side. I didn't taste any walnuts, but I'm sure I would notice the difference if they weren't there. It's on the edge of too sweet, toe-ing the line nicely in my opinion.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Tree House Hurricane
Imperial IPA - 7.7% ABV
Pete
As expected at this point (my 17th Tree House offering 11/29/18), incredible beer. Smells of stone fruit, with mostly orange and melon in the flavor with a hint of lemon. That combo makes it very fresh and clean tasting, leading to a quick disappearance from the glass.

Tree House I Have Promises To Keep
Imperial IPA - 7.9% ABV

Another home run from TH. Medium amount of citrus with a little bit of creaminess going down. Finishes with a little piney-ness and quite dry, which makes you come back for more quite often. This one won't last long.

A real celebration of super decadent chocolate that leans towards the sweet side. Probably want to split this with someone.

Picture
Tree House Impermanence
Imperial Milk Stout - 9% ABV
Pete
So much going on. Smell is mostly maple with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is maple and sweet up front with an obvious richness to it. As it goes down you get the coffee and some bitter chocolate also, and then the maple comes back to the party after you put it down. It's super rich, so I'd recommend splitting a bottle. Pair with prezels for a perfect balance. My only complaint, much like other TH bottles, is that this was $12 for 1. Well worth it, but this would be a 7 if price didn't factor into the ratings.

Tree House Jjjuiceee Machine

Awesome, yet still somewhat overhyped (the expectations are ridiculous for this). Some candied mango and the most melon flavor I've ever tasted in a beer (I get papaya).

New England IPA - 6.8% ABV

Tons of citrus flavor, as expected from an amped up version of such a great beer. That said, it's too creamy, leaving a bit of an odd aftertaste. Definitely wouldn't kick it out of bed though.

Tree House Juice Machine
Imperial New England IPA - 8.2% ABV

This is one of TH's most popular beers, and somehow I had never managed to have it until June 2021. It's somehow simultaneously disappointing and incredible. It is just overhyped. Still, it's excellent; super juicy with a light-ish body and a dry finish that keeps you coming back.

Tree House Juice Project Citra + Barbe Rouge
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV
Pete
Pretty much nails the 'Tree House' style. It's creamy, no bitterness at all; fruity, but not sweet, and even a little peppery in the finish. I may need to seek out the Barbe Rouge hops.

Tree House Juice Project Citra + Chinook
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV

My favorite Juice Project yet (out of 4). Tropical and juicy as you might expect, but also a nice hint of earthiness from the Chinook that really amps up the beer.

Tree House Juice Project Citra + Lotus

Tree House Juice Project Citra + Simcoe
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV

Solid citrusy IPA, but the creaminess overwhelms the flavor a bit for me. Obviously a good beer, but not what I've come to expect from the brewery.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Tree House Juli-ish
Pale Ale - 5.2% ABV
Pete
Look, this is a good beer. It's light and and a tiny bit orangey, good for the summer. That said, I'm way more likely to pour this into a beer pong cup than I am to order it on draft at a bar (if that was possible with TH). Some of their newer, lower alcohol stuff has impressed me, but this does not. Just not worth the price.

Ratings: Pete - 3 Shyoh's

Tree House Julius
IPA - 6.8% ABV

Delicious. Mild orange smell, with mango and peach mostly coming through in the flavor. Very tasty, but not an extreme flavor bomb like many of their others, making it incredibly drinkable. It also has a touch of creaminess to it.

This is an incredible beer that still managed to disappoint. Given that it's the highest rated IPA in the world, my expectations were insanely high. Without those, I would have enjoyed this a lot more. Super citrusy and pretty creamy.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Tree House King Julius
Imperial New England IPA - 8.2% ABV
Pete
A slightly amped up version of Julius. Smells of orange creamsicle. The flavor leans toward overripe mango with a good amount of creaminess. A big noticeable improvement for me was an unexpected subtle dryness in the finish, maintaining the drinkability of the original despite the added flavor.

This is amazing. Lemon yogurt flavor with plenty of funk without rising to the level of being weird. It also has a dry finish that keeps you coming back for more. The only thing keeping this from a 7 rating is the $20 price tag for the single bottle.

Amazing. One of the darkest pours you'll see, just jet black. Smells of chocolate and vanilla, tastes like maple and vanilla and finishes with a hint of cinnamon/spice. Basically a bourbon barrel aged stout in flavor without the actual aging or the booziness that you typically get from those.

Described as 'immensely juicy', and I can't really improve on that. Smells like OJ, and tastes like it with some ripe mango mixed in there. Excellent. I should note that I drank this as the clock struck midnight to ring in the new decade, felt pretty good about myself there.

Super malty and a little sweet. This isn't my favorite style, but this is a pretty good option within it. I knew I wouldn't love this when I bought it. I had to buy it knowing a friend was coming over whose nickname is "Old Man" just to present him with his own beer.
