Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams)

Boston, MA (This is page 3. See pages 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, or 7.)

Picture
Sam Adams Double Agent IPL
India Pale Lager - 5% ABV
Pete
This beer has its merits, as it has the hoppiness of an IPA, but the smoothness of a lager, without being too strong. If you want to enjoy a fairly generic-tasting IPA but don't want the alcohol, this one is for you.

Sam Adams Double Bock
Imperial Bock - 9.5% ABV
Pete
Sam Adams claims there is a half pound of malt in every bottle, and that is quite a bit. How does it taste? You guessed it, malty. It is so good, I wish I could drink it faster. Unfortunately, that is impossible. Budget yourself at least 20 minutes to drink this, no matter what pace you normally drink at.

Sam Adams Downtime Pilsner
Pilsner - 5% ABV
Pete
This is a very good pils. It doesn't have a ton of flavor, just like you'd expect with the style, and it is very easy to drink. Many American breweries try to do too much with this style, but this is a good one.

Sam Adams Dunkelweizen
Dunkelweizen - 5.1% ABV

This is a pretty tasty beer, but 'dunkel' means 'dark', so you can tell from this picture that I was a little disappointed there.

Sam Adams East West Kolsch
Kolsch - 5.01% ABV
Pete
This beer is good for the summer. It is very light and fairly tasteless, but it goes down easy.

Sam Adams Fat Jack Double Pumpkin
Imperial Pumpkin - 8.5% ABV

This is a solid beer. Pretty sweet with hints of pumpkin and a hint of bitterness to balance it out. Not to mention its high alcohol content goes unnoticed in the taste.

Sam Adams Green Dragon Brew
Lager - ?% ABV
Pete
One of the better bar-specific beers I've had, mostly because the others are all terrible (example). This one is at the Green Dragon Tavern in Boston. Cool place, chances are you'll find better beers there than this one. Kind of like someone took a Bud and splashed some Boston Lager into it.

Sam Adams Grumpy Monk
Belgian IPA - 5.7% ABV
Pete
Great name, and a great beer. It has a citrusy taste and smell to it, and the hop bitterness stays with you in the aftertaste. It is basically a Belgian Tripel with less alcohol.

Sam Adams Hazel Brown
Brown Ale - 5.2% ABV
Pete
This is a real winner here. Very sweet, nutty flavor. Just so smooth going down.

Sam Adams Hefeweizen
Hefeweizen - 5.4% ABV
Pete
I was surprised how good this is, but I really shouldn't be. Pretty simple style, usually Sam nails these, and they nailed this one. Clean, crisp, and refreshing.

Sam Adams Holiday Porter
Porter - 5.8% ABV
Pete
This beer has a subtle chocolate flavor. I was unimpressed with the flavor from this beer, but that could just be because I hold Sam Adams to such a high standard. This beer has nothing that will jump out at you for being especially good, but I would certainly drink it again by choice, as I was pretty satisfied after drinking this one.
