It's opening day of the NFL playoffs (2013), my team (Eagles) has been eliminated for 4 weeks, I have 12 new beers, I'm in a fantasy contest trying to win $3000, and I haven't done one of these in awhile, so I am going to share my rantings.
4:36 - Smuttynose Winter Ale - First snap=first sip. Decent winter beer with mellow sweetness. The fantasy contest is strange, because you have to root against everyone you don't have. In this game, I just have Houston defense, so I need to hope Houston wins 35-0 on 5 defensive TD's. Players I'm worried about: both tight ends, both kickers, Foster, and Andre Johnson. 5:06 - Southern Tier IPA - Turns out I've already had this one, but I like it, so whatever. Game going OK for my fantasy team so far, I just want Schaub to stop throwing it to Daniels. 5:40 - Unibroue Trois Pistoles - This is like a heavily carbonated Leffe Brune, and that is certainly not a bad thing. The game: Bengals D isn't played by a lot of people, so I can deal with the TD, but it takes away the shutout from my D. Definitely worried about Shayne Graham. 3 FG's already. 6:11 - Fuller's London Pride - Very drinkable pale ale that is pretty well balanced between malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Productive halftime: got, folded, and put away laundry, finished my beer, and started dinner. Still not much going on in the game (good thing). 6:43 - Wachusett Winter Ale - Doesn't taste like a normal winter beer. Some flavor, but I can't pinpoint it. Worth drinking. Since my last rant, I've eaten 1.5 pounds of chicken and become very worried about Arian Foster. 7:30 - Pacifico Clara - Pretty bland, not worth getting. The last beer took me forever, and I am unhappy with Foster and Daniels' performances. Things aren't looking good. 8:14 - Sierra Nevada Narwhal - Extremely strong, but still tasty, imperial stout. Ruit is now being played, so the rantings will be on hold. 8:46 - Murphy's Red Ale - Generic imported not that good beer. 1-1 in ruit. Peterson needs to start scoring. |
