Spent too much money last night, so I'm staying in tonight. I still want to drink, so I'm writing a diary. I won't write much at the beginning until I get drunk and more interesting. I've got 12 new beers to review.
7:27 - Kona Wailua - 5.4% ABV - Watching The Day After Tomorrow, very average movie. The beer: very subtle fruit flavors, not great, but very drinkable. 7:50 - Bass Pale Ale - 5% ABV - Super Troopers is not a bad backup to have for commercials. The beer: a popular import, especially when paired with Guinness in a black & tan. It's pretty good, but this one is a bit skunked. My liquor store needs to adjust the storage of their imported beers, as this appears to be a common problem. 8:18 - Troegs Perpetual IPA - 7.5% ABV - Movie is heating up (or cooling down I guess). Also just saw a Dark Knight rises preview, Anne Hathaway will be a great addition, not that it needed one after the last one. This beer is great. A nice floral flavor from the hops dominates the taste buds. IPA fans will love this one. 8:45 - Newcastle Founders Ale - 4.8% ABV - Movie is getting less exciting (not good for the end of a movie). The beer is not skunked, which is a surprise. It is pretty good. Pretty generic pale ale taste (mildly bitter, not much other flavor). 9:13 - Heavy Seas Loose Cannon - 7.25% ABV - Now watching Joe Dirt, great movie. Brandy (-->) is very hot. A rare case of the short hair working on a girl. Good IPA. Nothing to write home about though. 9:35 - Founders Cerise - 6.5% ABV - Joe starting to gain interest of the public. The beer looks like carbonated grenadine, and it tastes like what I would imagine cherry soda should taste like. It is also 6.5% ABV, so this is a total winner in my book. 10 - Harp Lager - 5% - Loving Joe dirt, which I have probably seen 15 times. Backup movie, The Mask of Zorro, Catherine Zeta Jones in her prime. Not a good beer. Pretty tasteless. 10:31 - Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Pale Ale- 5% ABV - Joe Dirt coming to revelations about himself. The beer: I was ready for it, but it's a skunked one, can't taste anything but skunkiness. 11 - Dogfish Head Festina Peche - 4.5% ABV - Moving onto Deep Impact (awesome movie) and a movie on Syfy called 'Mega Python vs. Gatoroid', which I am only watching because this channel just shows ridiculous movies with hot chicks and awful special effects. The blonde that starts bitching about killing animals at 11:15 definitely will die soon, or she'll be converted and become a main character who wants to obliterate the animals. The beer is nice light and fruity. Peach is a good flavor for beer, because it is pretty subtle. Only a couple more left, and I'm in no rush. 11:42 - Widmer Brothers Shaddock IPA - 6.2% ABV - Morgan Freeman can only play positions of power (general, God, president, the guy who can get things...), and he is damn good at it. Just flipped on SyFy and see the Gatoroid for the first time, special effects are so bad. Blonde is still alive, so she must be converted soon. The beer tastes like an IPA going down, then leaves you with a grapefruit aftertaste. 12:20 - Goose Island Honker's Ale - 4.2% ABV - Somehow the blonde is still alive, and the asteroid is now on the way to obliterate earth. I can't do this anymore. The beer is very bland. |
