Foam Brewers

Burlington, VT
Pete - Foam is a relatively small taproom near the lake in Burlington. I went on a Friday night in the summer, and they had a live band playing inside that was quite good. They also have an outdoor area. You can get their beers at the bar, mostly IPAs and sours, along with some other options (including Citizen Cider), so it should satisfy everyone. It was pretty crowded, but it didn't take too long to get a drink. They did have an odd single-file line to order, but that's probably because people are coming from inside and out to get the drinks.

Foam Bonus Track: 3
Pilsner - 5% ABV

It's a solid pils, can't complain, but it's a pils, so you can't expect too much.

Foam Built To Spill
Imperial IPA - 8% ABV
Pete
A little on the sweet side - the flavors of the hops don't hide the sweetness of a beer this strong as well as they do in many others. I'd drink it again, but it's not the best I've had from Foam.

Foam Canvas
New Zealand Pale Ale - 4.5% ABV
Pete
Really enjoyable pale ale that you could drink all day. The aroma is pure citrus. That comes through in the flavor with a hint of peppery-ness, though the flavor in general is pretty subtle. Likely would be overwhelmed by food, so drink it before and after instead.

Foam Caribou
Imperial IPA - 8.6% ABV

I got a can of this at the brewery. Great beer, tons of tropical citrus with a hint of dank in the finish. Super drinkable despite the ABV. Dangerous.

Foam Constellations
Sour IPA - 7% ABV

Reminds me of Hudson Valley, which is high praise with this style. Sour and hoppy, and nicely balanced between the two. Maybe a tiny bit too much vanilla for my tastes, but it's still excellent.

Foam Dead Flowers
New Zealand IPA - 6.2% ABV

Super, super peppery/zesty. I absolutely love this style, and this one nails it.

Foam Foggy Notion
Imperial IPA - 8.4% ABV
Pete
Another great beer. Smell is ultra pine. The flavor is more balanced with a mild amount of citrus to go along with a hint of creaminess, and it finishes with some dank pine flavor.

Foam For You
New England Pale Ale - 5.2% ABV
Pete
Super drinkable and a lot of citrus, especially given the relatively low ABV.

Foam Halo Bender
Imperial IPA - 8% ABV

Of the three beers I had in my first visit to Foam (see The Fruit... and The Shining below), this one was the closest to a typical IPA. It has a hint of pine to it, which was the familiar IPA flavor. It still doesn't fit in the cookie-cutter IPA category. It has a fruitiness to it as its dominant flavor, much like their others, but it's less tropical and more mellow. The combination results in a great balance of fruit and hops that's another HR from Foam. Great name too.

Foam Heart Like An Orange
American IPA - 7.2% ABV

Smells absolutely incredible. Tons of citrus, obviously orange. Taste is a bit more mellow, but still the same flavors you'd expect based on the aroma. Really good.

Foam King Vulture
Imperial Stout - 12% ABV

Collaboration with Horus. Relatively light body for a beer this dark. Lots of coconut flavor especially in the finish. Hides the booze well, which makes it somewhat dangerous.

Foam Mythological Beauty
Fruited Sour - 5% ABV
Pete
This is incredible. It tastes like a blueberry ice cream float. Lactose gives it creaminess, there's plenty of blueberry flavor (I don't notice the lemon or coconut), and the high level of carbonation tickles the tongue. Awesome.

Foam Plans For Nigel
American IPA - 6.2% ABV
Pete
Soft going down, not a ton of carbonation, and the oats make it have some creaminess that plays into that. The flavor is mostly in the finish, with a good amount of dank and some fruitiness.

Foam She Doesn't Need U!
New England IPA - 7% ABV

Super dry and earthy flavors. Definitely Nelson hop-forward. Finishes clean and crisp.

Foam Smirk of the Dolphin
Sour IPA - 8.5% ABV

The passion fruit in this is nice, but this is extremely boozy and wildly over salty.

Foam Supernature
Imperial New England IPA - 8.4% ABV
Pete
This is a 'dry-hemped' IPA that's also dry-hopped. As you can imagine, it's ultra-dank. I liked this a lot, as it wasn't completely overwhelming, but it's pretty damn dank, so if you don't like that, you won't like this.

Foam The Fruit That Ate Itself
IPA - 7.2% ABV
Pete
This was the first beer I had during a visit to Foam. It couldn't have set the tone better. Just an explosion of hoppy and tropical fruity goodness. The brewery describes this as tasting "mango, orange, creamsicle". No argument here.

Foam The Nameless
American IPA - 7% ABV

Awesome. Big time tropical juice bomb, with mango coming through the forefront for me.

Foam The Shining
Imperial IPA - 8% ABV
Pete
Maybe a tiny hint more bitter than The Fruit That Ate Itself, which I think is a good thing. It balances it nicely. This one is described as "pineapple, mango, smoothie". I don't know if I believe the smoothie part, but I'd drink this anytime nonetheless.

Foam Think I'm In Love
Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV

Unreal. Tiny bit of bitterness with a whole mess of citrus, and a very dry finish that keeps you coming back for more.

Foam Youth Lagoon

Awesome. A huge citrus aroma erupts as soon as it hits the glass. Passion fruit flavor and some dryness in the finish.
