Stony Creek Brewery

Branford, CT

Picture
Stony Creek Big Cranky
Imperial IPA - 9.5% ABV
Pete
This is an oddly sweet IPA, which is impressive considering its alcohol and how bitter it should be. It doesn't work.

Ratings: Pete - 3 Shyoh's

I don't understand this beer. It really, really should not be as sweet as it is. It smells nicely of hops, but it tastes like, well, it tastes bad.

Stony Creek Dock Time Amber Lager
Lager - 4.8% ABV
Pete
This is a pretty good full-bodied lager, but you might as well just get Boston Lager.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Stony Creek La Garza Mexican Lager
Lager - 4.8% ABV

It's basically exactly what you'd expect. Light and pretty easy to drink without much flavor. You probably only want to drink this outside and with a lime in it.

Stony Creek Ripe & Cranky Peach
IPA - 6.5% ABV

Decent IPA can't really taste peach though. Seems basically just like a generic IPA.

Stony Creek Stony Joe
Stout - 5.5% ABV

I know what you're thinking, this says stout but it doesn't look like it. I was confused too, even asked the bartender to confirm I got the right beer. Sure enough, this tastes like coffee, yet is light and very easy to drink. I loved this one, and would get it many times.

Stony Creek Sun Juice
Belgian Witbier - 5.3% ABV

Stony Creek describes this as a wit/saison hybrid, and that works just fine for me. Two styles that are defined by their distinct spices merged together, and it works. It has a burst of spice when you take a sip that mellows as it goes down and stays with you after when done. It is quite easy to drink.
