Tired Hands Brewing Company

Ardmore, PA. This brewery is in the heart of the Main Line, right off the main road. They actually have 3 separate locations all right near each other in Ardmore, one of which is just for merch and to-go. I went to the Fermentaria, which opens for lunch. The food menu looked quite good, but I didn't eat. They have 12-15 beers on tap (small pours available), and a bunch of bottle pours as well. The beers are a range of styles, with a focus on IPA's - specifically milkshake IPA's, but they also have others - and saisons. They also sell cans and bottles to go - they had 6 can and 3 bottle options when I was there.

Little Log Cabin Always Better Here
Imperial Milkshake IPA - 11.5% ABV

Scary dangerous amount of alcohol in this one based on the flavor. Creamy with tons of mango and vanilla. Basically a mango milkshake that happens to be 11.5% alcohol. Byeeeeeee.

This beer smells super dank. Unfortunately, the flavor is a little flat. What is there is definitely the dankness, but it's just not enough to blow you away, or to justify 8% ABV.

Really damn good beer. Tons of varieties of citrus up front with a dry, slightly dank finish. This is my style.

Awesome beer. Lemony with some funk. It's hard to put this beer into a specific style, but it's flavor puts it somewhere between summer wheat, Belgian wit, and saison. I like all those things, and they go well together.

This has a lot going on. Sweet potato, rice, lactose, raspberry, vanilla, and hops in it - could go pretty much anywhere. It's definitely different. The vanilla and raspberry come through the most, with some earthy hops on top of it. It's a combo that doesn't sound like it would work, but it did for me. Some of my friends did not share my opinion, but I guess they can't handle this much weird.

Smells of creamy citrus. The flavor doesn't quite follow, as it's more dank with a tiny hint of citrus in the background. You get a bit of different flavor in each sip - really awesome beer.

Tired Hands DDH Grassman: Citra & Nelson
Imperial New England IPA - 8.7% ABV
Pete
Damn good. Lemony and grassy going down with creaminess coming in after and a dry finish that keeps you coming back for more. Didn't get much sweetness from the honey, but it was nicely balanced, so it's probably like when you add just enough salt to make something taste great without being salty.

Super dank and super delicious. There's some citrus in there, but this is definitely for the dank lovers.

Pictured front left. Excellent. Quite creamy, and with more carbonation than most. That sounds weird, but it didn't take anything away from this. Ripe melon flavors. Goes down dangerously easy.

Collaboration with Crooked Stave. Super creamy yet pretty easy to drink. It's quite dank, with even a little bit of funk to it. I like that.

This is a dry beer with a little oaky flavor. I was hoping it'd be funkier like others of this series, but even with the yeast at the bottom (there wasn't all that much of it), it was fairly mild.

It was really hard to figure out what the hell I was about to drink when I was looking at this bottle. And drinking it didn't exactly clear things up. It's sour first, then funky, then fruity sweet. The best comparison would be a funky fruited sour. Whatever it is, it's very worth drinking.

A little fruity and pretty oaky. Real funky at the end when you add the yeast from the bottom of the bottle. It's like 2 entirely different beers with and without the yeast. Both are great.

Imperial White Stout - 11% ABV

I have two good things to say about this beer. First, you can taste all the things that the brewery described this beer tasting like. Second, I managed to drink the entire thing without dumping it out. Unfortunately, that's as far as I can go. Banana bread, chai tea, and 'well-intentioned morning smoothie' are definitely not flavors I would ever recommend mixing, and certainly not at 11% alcohol. This is gross.

Incredible beer. A little sweet from the honey, but not too much. Some citrus flavors in there on top of it with some dankness from the Nelson, rounded out with a pretty creamy texture.

This is a great beer that could double as something you'd have a sick person drink. The honey, high carbonation level, and zestiness could really take the edge off a headache, whether it's from a cold or a hangover.

Tired Hands IOUNNO4
Pastry Stout - 12% ABV
Pete
Incredible stout. I wouldn't say it quite tastes like PB&J like it claims, but it is vaguely nutty and fruity at the same time, so it makes sense. I was shocked to hear this was 12% - it does not taste it at all.

Tired Hands Milkshake IPA: Apple Cider Donut
Milkshake IPA - 7.2% ABV

Super creamy texture, as you'd expect from the style. The flavor is definitely cider - it almost comes off with an apple cider vinegar-like flavor that balances the creaminess. It sounds weird, but it's quite good, and it grows on you as you drink it.

Tired Hands Milkshake IPA: Cranberry Tart
Milkshake IPA - 7.2% ABV

Tastes like a cranberry vanilla milkshake - even has the creamy thickness of it. If you like that, you'll like this. I was with 3 other people, and everyone loved this. That's impressive given divisiveness about this style. It's the red beers in the picture.

Tired Hands Milkshake IPA: Double Key Lime Pie

Collaboration with Omnipollo. Unique. Lots of lime and lots of vanilla. It has a bitterness to the end like lime pith. Definitely need to like lime to like this, and I do.

Tired Hands Milkshake IPA: Double Passionfruit Kalamansi Jasmine Honey
Imperial Milkshake IPA - 9% ABV
Pete
Well described. It tastes like a passion fruit/honey milkshake. If that sounds good to you, get this. I was skeptical, but this was delicious. Usually this much alcohol in an IPA is too sweet, but the milkshake style can stand up to that much sweetness (I think).

This smells strongly of peach and mango. The flavor is much more tea-forward, with some vanilla and the fruits coming through in the aftertaste. It is extremely unique, and I like it a lot, but I could see plenty of people not liking it.

Tired Hands Milkshake IPA: TDH Rikawa & Motueka
Milkshake IPA - 7.3% ABV
Pete
Much different from the rest of the milkshake line. It definitely has the creaminess, but the vanilla is pretty subtle, and without any fruit, it's more of a NEIPA than anything else. An incredible NEIPA. A little dank/earthy and a little citrusy, and the vanilla somehow works.

This beer tastes basically like a basil-y saison. It's kind of odd, but not bad. It is supposed to be a blueberry basil IPA, but it certainly didn't taste that way to me. Interesting beer, but the name is much better than the beer.
