Brewery Ommegang

Cooperstown, NY

Picture
Ommegang Abbey Ale
Belgian Dubbel - 8.5% ABV
Josh
Full bodied dubbel. A lot of awesomeness in this guy, drink up and enjoy.
Pete
This is how a dubbel should be. It is sweet and smooth going down, and then a little bit of a bite in the aftertaste, just letting you know that this beer has a little punch to it.

Ratings: Pete - 6 Shyoh's, Josh - 6 Shyoh's

Ommegang Blueberry Coffee Three Philosophers
Belgian Quadrupel - 9.7% ABV
Pete
I found the blueberry and coffee to both be quite subtle in this version. It somehow seems extra boozy. Prefer the original.

Ommegang Fruition
Fruit Witbier - 5.3% ABV
Pete
Delightful. A little fruity, but still undeniably Belgian. Incredibly easy to drink.

Ommegang Game of Thrones - Three Eyed Raven
Saison - 7.2% ABV
Pete
This is a pretty great beer. It has the Belgian spiciness of a saison and the rich maltiness of a brown or porter, yet somehow is pretty clean in the finish, making it super easy to drink. The only thing holding it back from an even higher rating is the price.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ommegang Hennepin
Saison - 7.7% ABV
Pete
This is a great beer. It has a lot of flavor, a bit of spiciness, and a good amount of alcohol.

Ratings: Pete - 6 Shyoh's

Ommegang Nirvana
IPA - 6.5% ABV
Pete
Pretty balanced IPA. Some bitterness, some citrus, some malty. Fairly drinkable for its style too.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Ommegang Pale Sour Ale
Sour - 6.9% ABV
Pete
Easy to drink, tart, and a hint of fruit. Pretty great for drinking outside, which is what I did with this.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ommegang Rare Vos
Belgian Pale Ale - 6.5% ABV
Pete
This is an outstanding beer. After one sip, it immediately threatened to take over as my favorite beer. I'll have to have it a few more times before I can give it that honor, but it needs to be drank by everyone.

Ratings: Pete - 7 Shyoh's

Ommegang Rosetta
Oud Bruin - 5.6% ABV
Pete
This tastes like sweetened cherries. It has just enough sour to make me not feel girly drinking something this sweet and delicious.

Ratings: Pete - 6 Shyoh's

Ommegang Three Philosophers
Belgian Quadruple - 9.7% ABV
Pete
This is definitely boozy, but it is still pretty good. It tastes like a super strong amber. I'm not a huge amber fan, but somehow the booziness makes it better for me. Maybe balancing the sweetness with a little burn is what did it. Whatever it is, this is great.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ommegang Tripel Perfection
Belgian Tripel - 8.9% ABV
Pete
Delicious. A hint of fruitiness, a little spiciness, and it hides the booze very well.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ommegang Witte
Belgian Witbier - 5.2% ABV
Pete
This is a pretty good witbier, dominated by orange and coriander flavors. This is a winner.
