Ipswich Ale Brewery

Ipswich, MA

Picture
Ipswich 1620
IPA - 6.3% ABV
Pete
Nice citrus flavor going down that morphs into a bit of piney-ness with a hint of bitter in the finish. Really good.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ipswich Ale
Pale Ale - 5.4% ABV
Pete
This is a pretty average, mildly hoppy, pale ale. Not much else to say.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Ipswich Bohemian Raspberry
Sour - 5% ABV
Pete
Pretty tart, but more in an 'eating raspberries' kind of way than any added sourness. I love raspberry, and I love Queen, so they nailed both the flavor and the name for me.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ipswich Bramble On
Sour - 5% ABV
Pete
Pretty good sour that's quite tart with a good amount of blackberry flavor.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Ipswich Cranberry Beret
Sour - 5% ABV
Pete
Pretty good somewhat mild sour. Definitely taste the cranberry specifically (not just general fruitiness).

Ipswich Dark Ale
Brown Ale - 6.3% ABV
Pete
Dark ale doesn't really give you any information about what the beer is going to be like, but there really isn't any way to describe it. It tastes kind of like a porter, but is a little too light to be called a porter. It is still too heavy to be called a brown ale too. Pretty average beer though.

Ipswich Double Take
Imperial IPA - 7.5% ABV
Pete
A little citrus, a little maltiness, and a little bitter. Solid IPA but it's pretty mellow; I was hoping for more flavor.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Ipswich Harvest Ale
Amber Ale - 6.9% ABV
Pete
I was very surprised when I tasted this beer. It is more of an IPA than any other style. The predominant flavor is hops, and in a good way.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ipswich iBelge
Saison - 4.8% ABV
Pete
Really good beer. It's light-bodied, and tastes pretty Belgian with some nice yeasty spiciness. This one can go down the hatch quickly.

Ipswich IPA
IPA - 6.5% ABV
Pete
Pretty good IPA here. Worth drinking, but nothing to write home about.

Ratings: Pete - 4 Shyoh's

Ipswich Norm's IPA
New England IPA - 6.3% ABV
Pete
Brewed especially for the Cheers bar in Boston. I sat in the wrong seat, but the beer is outstanding. Strong tropical fruit flavors and a tiny bit of bitterness. Served in a frosted mug, which likely took away some of the flavor, but I still loved it.

    As good as advertised.

Ipswich Pumpkin Porter
Pumpkin Porter - 5.4% ABV
Pete
Pretty pumpkin-y going down with a nice toasty rich finish. I'm definitely a fan of the dark pumpkin beers; it's a good mix.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Picture
Ipswich Route 101
IPA - 6% ABV
Pete
Pretty malty IPA, not a huge fan.

Ratings: Pete - 3 Shyoh's

Picture
Ipswich Summer Ale
Blonde Ale - 4.9% ABV
Pete
This is a good beer. A blonde with a hint of lemon. Refreshing.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Picture
Ipswich Winter Ale
Winter Ale - 6.2% ABV
Pete
This was a nice beer. Malty and a little extra strength. Really warms the soul.

Ratings: Pete - 5 Shyoh's

Ipswich Zumatra Stout
Stout - 7% ABV
Pete
Tons of coffee flavor. More like drinking a rich coffee than a beer. Really good.
