Innis & Gunn

Edinburgh, Scotland

Picture
Innis & Gunn Kindred Spirits
Stout - 6.1% ABV
Pete
Solid stout going down, but it finishes with an odd sweetness that doesn't really do it for me. I was expecting more of a bite from the whiskey, but it's really just sweet, and not in milk stout kind of way.

Innis & Gunn Original
Scotch Ale - 6.6% ABV

A lot of sweetness in this one that I expect (and don't like) from this style, but there's also some notes of bourbon flavors in there that balance it a bit. I'd still prefer less sweetness, but it's pretty good.

Scotch Ale - 6.8% ABV

I don't like this at all. It has the sweetness I don't like (so much of it), much like the Original above, but this doesn't have quite the amount of spiciness from the liquor to balance it out. It'd probably be good with some spiced rum flavors, but I don't really get any of that. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

Innis & Gunn Scottish Porter
Porter - 7.4% ABV

This is quite good. I was a little drunk when I ordered it, but I think my description was pretty good: "Oh yes. Everything you want in a dark beer. Even the sass from the waitress came with it."
