Great Divide Brewing Company

Denver, CO

Great Divide Chai Yeti
Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV
Pete
Really rich, dark, roasty stout. I don't really get much chai flavor, but it's quite delicious, just like all the others.

Great Divide Chocolate Cherry Yeti
Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV
Pete
Rich, delicious stout with some subtle fruit flavor, though I couldn't pinpoint cherry.

Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV

This is incredible. It is extremely rich, and you definitely taste chocolate. I also tasted coffee, but that may just be my brain associating this type of beer along with the bitterness with coffee, as there is definitely a noticeable bitter background to the richness. It has a nice head too, leaving you with a chocolate milk mustache.

Great Divide Colette Farmhouse Ale
Saison - 7.3% ABV
Pete
This is very light in color, and a bit light in flavor. You can still taste a little bit of the flavor of a saison, but I wanted more.

Great Divide Denver Pale Ale
Pale Ale - 5% ABV
Pete
Great hoppy pale ale. It has a very specific flavor that's different from most beers, and it's quite good, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe you can.

Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV

As usual, I can't put any knocks on this imperial stout. It will overpower your taste buds in a great way.

Great Divide Hades
Belgian Strong Pale Ale - 7.8% ABV
Pete
This one is straight to the point. Some good citrusy flavors, plus extra bonus points for being very strong and still coming in a normal-priced 6-pack.

Great Divide Hibernation Ale
Old Ale (Winter) - 8.7% ABV
Pete
It's really hard to put a finger on this one, as there's a great depth of flavor. The best I can do to describe it is say it's like a complex brown ale with a hint of hops. It also happens to be pretty damn strong. Whatever it is, it's delicious.

Great Divide Hoss Oktoberfest Lager
Märzen - 6.2% ABV
Pete
Damn good malty beer that's quite easy to drink. I like this more than most of the style.

Great Divide Hoss Rye Lager
Rye Lager - 6.2% ABV
Pete
I don't really know what to say about this one. It didn't taste very good, the rye flavor wasn't strong enough to balance the strange sweetness that it had, but I managed to put a bunch of them down without really noticing.

Great Divide Nadia Kali
Saison - 6.3% ABV
Pete
This is definitely a good saison. I don't really notice hibiscus, but I'm not sure I would know I was tasting it anyway. Good beer, but definitely not worth paying the extra for it ($16 for a 4-pack vs. a typical $10-12 6-pack at the same store).

Great Divide Nomad
Czech Pilsner - 5.4% ABV
Pete
This beer isn't all that great. I spent a weekend in Prague, so I know what Czech pilsners are supposed to taste like. It seems like a style that American craft breweries can't quite get a grip on. Maybe it's because it's supposed to be pretty low in flavor, and we just can't handle that.

Great Divide Oatmeal Yeti
Imperial Stout - 9.5% ABV
Pete
This isn't as good as the original or the espresso version, but it's still pretty great. It is extremely rich and creamy, with a definite hint of bitter in there.

Great Divide Orabelle
Tripel - 8.3% ABV
Pete
This is a solid tripel. I love the style and like the beer within the style.

Edit: I had this again, and it was incredible. I don't know why I didn't go nuts for it the first time. Different glasses, probably made a difference. It's a little spicier than your typical tripel. Just buy it.

Great Divide Titan IPA
IPA - 7.1% ABV
Pete
This has a subtle sweetness going down, but it is still dominated by the bitterness from the hops. You must love hops to enjoy this one.

Picture
Great Divide Velvet Yeti
Stout - 5% ABV
Pete
This is a great, if relatively simple, stout. It doesn't have a ton of flavor (like many of the other yetis on this page), but it is extremely smooth and has a great head.

Picture
Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale
Fruit Beer - 5.6% ABV
Pete
The best thing I can say for this beer was that I was able to force 2 of them down.

This is an outstanding imperial stout. It is strong, dark, rich, and a little bitter. No complaints here.
