Burlington Beer Company

Williston, VT
Pete - This brewery is a few miles east of downtown Burlington, hidden away in a little industrial park, an easy Uber/Lyft ride if you're staying downtown. There's also parking if you don't intend to indulge too much. I wanted to hang out here for awhile, but just didn't have time on my last trip due to work.
All I did was get beer to go. They offer flights, have a ton of beers on tap and in cans to go, and have a full food menu that looks quite good. It's very popular.  Their prices are extremely reasonable. I got 12 4-pack pints for $162, which is $13.50 a pack, much better than you could expect elsewhere. You can get up to 8 single beers, plus 4-packs, and they offer a deal for getting a full case of a variety of 4-packs. Most importantly, they make some incredible beer. I will 100% go here to hang out the next time I'm in town.

Great beer. Dark and rich and chocolatey. It doesn't taste boozy, but the richness makes it a sipper anyway. Savor this one.

Burlington Ancient Power
Imperial Stout - 8% ABV
Pete
A double stout with Chocolate Cake, Chilies, Cinnamon, and Milk Sugar: could it possibly be bad? The chocolate and cinnamon dominate on the way down (more so chocolate), then the chilies hit at the end and linger. It's not crazy hot, but definitely noticeable.

Burlington Back to the Garden
IPA - 7.7% ABV

Super creamy, and nice and citrusy (nothing specific stands out). A little sweet, though honey specifically doesn't come through. Really good and drinkable. I loved this even more in the moment because my previous beer was quite bad.

Coffee Porter - 7.3% ABV

I would believe that this was a glass of carbonated coffee. Slightly sweetened with some chocolate notes in there, but coffee coffee coffee. Matches the name and can art well.

Imperial New England IPA - 9% ABV

Aroma is a major citrus blast. The flavor is maybe even better. It just tastes like honey drizzled tropical fruits. Hard to argue with that.

Burlington Chocolate Raspberry Whale Cake
Milk Stout - 8% ABV
Pete
I loved this. It tastes like you've already eaten your chocolate cake, and are now scraping the plate to get all the leftover raspberry sauce, but you're still getting some chocolate crumbs from the cake. If you want that in a liquid form, this is the beer for you.

Dark Gose - 5.5% ABV

I love the raspberry per usual, but there's something odd to me about a dark sour with milk sugar. I'd drink it again though.

Burlington Creatures of Magic
New England IPA - 6.5% ABV

This isn't necessarily what I expected for a NE Oat IPA, but it's damn good. Pretty piney with a super dry finish, not super creamy going down.

Burlington Directions to See a Ghost
Imperial Baltic Porter - 12% ABV

Ultra roasty beer with very tiny hints of both fruit and booziness. I wouldn't have guessed this was very strong, so that's a bit dangerous.

Burlington Dream Eater
Imperial Milk Stout - 8% ABV
Pete
Super heavy on the coffee and cinnamon flavors. I didn't get much vanilla, and the sweetness is definitely balanced by that spiciness. The spiced coffee flavor and color/head remind me of a Turkish coffee. Really good.

Burlington Elaborate Metaphor
New England Pale Ale - 5.4% ABV
Pete
Super drinkable. A little creamy and citrusy with a touch of peppery pine in the finish. Excellent beer, especially at this low of an ABV. Great option if you want to have a bunch and not pass out.

Burlington Folk Metal
Oatmeal Stout - 5.5% ABV

Super roasty. Not super rich though, was expecting a little more thickness from an oatmeal stout. Without it though, this becomes super drinkable, almost like a brown ale.

Burlington Frequency Vibration
Imperial Gose - 8% ABV

"Double raspberry double gose" sounds absolutely amazing to me. The raspberry is definitely there, but more mellow than expected, especially given the color. There's a hint of salty to it, and a definite booziness you don't typically get in a gose - not in a good way.

Burlington Future Glow
Session New England IPA - 4.5% ABV

Exactly what you'd hope for in this. All the citrusy-ness and flavor (maybe a tiny bit toned down) of a NEIPA. It's a little less hazy/creamy, and it has a tiny bit of dank in the finish too. Really good.

Burlington Heart Swap
Imperial Stout - 8% ABV

Lots of berry, but not that much chocolate/fudge. It's good, but I wish it had more flavor. Dangerously drinkable for an imperial stout.

Burlington Intangible Tides
Imperial IPA - 10% ABV
Pete
An outrageous amount of flavor in this one. Tons and tons of citrus. My only complaint is my same complaint with most IPA's that are this strong: it's a touch too sweet. It's hard to hide all those sugars in an IPA once you get past 8.5-9%. Still excellent.

Burlington It's Complicated Being A Wizard
Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV
Pete
This is a very popular beer, and for good reason. It's exactly what you expect from a NEIPA. Hazy, creamy, tons of tropical citrus, and no bitterness. For what it's worth, I got a crazy look when I ordered this beer like this.

Imperial Milk Stout - 8% ABV

Pretty sweet - very obviously a milk stout. Both the chicory and coconut are subtle. Not a huge coconut fan, so that works for me, and chicory can be strong, so I think they used the right amount. Pretty darn good. Bonus points for the name.

A milk and cookies beer? Sign me up. Super chocolatey with an almost buttery feeling to it. Definitely reminds me of milk and cookies. It's on the edge of too sweet, but I don't think it crosses it. I also appreciate the Pokemon reference.

Yes. Incredible amount of flavor for a beer this size. It tastes like fruit salad to me. Peppery, lime, melon, and pineapple. Delicious.

Perfect balance of creamy and citrusy. I wish the effect was a little more amplified for some more flavor, but it's still a great beer.

Burlington Organized Anarchy
Imperial Gose - 10% ABV
Pete
Pretty fruity, not quite enough sour, and it's on the sweet side - that sweetness doesn't really seem to come from the fruit. It's pretty hard to make a good sour this strong, unless it's barrel-aged in some way. This just comes off too sweet but not in a fruity way.

Burlington Peasant King
Imperial New England IPA - 9% ABV

Really great beer. Sweet, citrusy, and bitter. Really nice balance. I would like it a touch less sweet, but it's hard to avoid at this ABV. Maybe this same beer at 8% would be even more to my liking. I drank this during GoT just so I could refer to myself as the Kingslayer.

This is intense. There's a lot of bourbon. Cranberry gives it both a little bit of sweetness and some tartness. I don't think cranberry was the right choice for a stout due to its tartness. Pretty weird.

This is a solid stout. It doesn't quite live up to the description, but peanut butter, chocolate, and salted pretzel sounds amazing if you can actually pull them off. Definitely chocolatey, but not much else.

Burlington Stainless Forest
Imperial New England IPA - 8.2% ABV

Only the 2nd Burlington I'd had (3/27/19), and it was the same night as Beekeeper. I had high hopes after that one, but I didn't expect this to be even better. Bright citrus aroma. Just enough creaminess in the texture to go with a perfect balance of citrus going down and a slightly peppery pine finish.

Sour cherry definitely comes through with a good amount of creaminess from the milk sugar, though the blueberry is subtle. I don't generally love cherry beers, but I'd drink this one again.

Excellent sour. A little tang, a little salt, and a little lingering carbonation on the tongue at the end. The kumquat is definitely there. I wouldn't know what that tastes like, but it has a distinct fruitiness that I couldn't pinpoint, so I assume that's kumquat.
