Bissell Brothers Brewing Company

Portland, ME
Pete - This is a cool place. I went here on a Saturday mid-afternoon. It was crowded but not crazy, and the lines for beers were pretty minimal. They have some food available, and beers on draft - including small pours - and to go, though many more options on draft. They also have nitro coffee on tap. Pretty big place with a cool view of the brewery itself, and the beers are amazing. They have an advanced beer release schedule if you're interested in making sure you get the beers you want to go.

Pictured on the left. Tastes very obviously Belgian. It's somewhere between a saison and a witbier, so it has some fruitiness in addition to the spice, but not a ton.

Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV

Pictured in the front. Creamy and very grassy going down with melon (papaya maybe?) in the finish. My kind of beer.

Bissell Brothers Here's To Feeling Good All The Time
Imperial New England IPA - 7.8% ABV

Pictured on the right. Ultra-hazy looking, but the body is actually lighter than you'd expect. Flavor has plenty of citrus but leans toward peppery and dry/piney in the finish.

Super, super grassy smelling. The flavor matches, although it's a little milder.

This is a great beer. It's a little bit bitter, but as if you're eating fruit and got too much rind, not hoppy bitter. You do get some nice hop flavors, mostly pine, but definitely taste some citrus (and the citrus smell is quite strong - a good thing). It has just enough rye to add an edge without overpowering the other flavors that I would hope for with a low-ish alcohol IPA.

Ultra-hazy, as you can tell from the picture. Tons and tons of tropical citrus flavors. I preferred Preserve & Protect, though they're quite similar. This is a bit creamier/hazier, which I felt took away from the citrus flavors. Still unreal.

Pilsner - 5.6% ABV

Pictured on the right. Zesty and crisp - damn good pils with much more flavor than the average pils, but all of the drinkability.

Looks and tastes like juice. It's super hazy, but doesn't come off quite as creamy as some of the others. Just a straight up juice bomb.

New England IPA - 7.3% ABV

Pictured on the left. Super grassy and peppery, what I've come to expect from Australian IPA's. I definitely like this style more than most, and this was no exception.

     Very Guinness-like.

Hazy, citrusy, and dank. The citrus and dank-ness are very well balanced in a way that makes this appealing to lovers of both. It's their flagship for a reason.
