Battery Steele Brewing

Portland, ME
Pete - I went here in the early afternoon on a Friday. They have small and large pours (no flights), and a food truck outside along with Austin Street. It's a small taproom with a little outdoor space. Highlights the brewing process. Great area to hang and drink. The beers are amazing. They have mostly IPA's, but a few different styles mixed in with them.

Pictured on the left. Pretty delicious. Super creamy texture with tons of pineapple flavor.

Battery Steele Avalon
Imperial IPA - 7.5% ABV

Pretty citrusy going down (makes sense with the triple dry hopping), with a slightly dry finish. Damn good beer.

Battery Steele Axion
New England IPA - 6.8% ABV
Pete
This was formerly known as 'Onsite #1'. Super creamy going down with some citrus (though not nearly as much as expected from the aroma). The finish is peppery and a tiny bit dank. Really excellent.

Battery Steele Enjoy the Ride
Sour - 5.5% ABV
Pete
Pretty sour, but still light and drinkable. I tasted lime, though that's apparently not one of the fruits in it. Still, delicious. Update: in retrospect, this was obviously a variety, but I do not remember which version this was.

Battery Steele Enjoy The Ride: Kiwi, Passion Fruit, & Papaya
Sour - 6.5% ABV

This is just a passion fruit smoothie. I'll never complain about that.

Battery Steele Entanglement
West Coast IPA - 5.6% ABV

Pictured on the right. Really damn good balanced IPA. Bitter, malty, and floral all come through.

Battery Steele Flora w/Wildflower Honey
Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV
Pete
This definitely has the hazy IPA citrus, along with a little bit of honey, without being too sweet. Really good beer.

Battery Steele Flume
Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV
Pete
This was my first beer from this brewery (3/30/19), and it immediately convinced me that I'm visiting the brewery this summer. It's exactly what you hope for in a NEIPA: soft, creamy texture with a ton of juiciness. Super flavorful and extremely enjoyable.

Battery Steele Flume^2
Imperial New England IPA - 8% ABV

Amazing. Creamy, citrusy (mostly mango), a little piney, and a nice dry finish that keeps you coming back.

Battery Steele Flume^3
Imperial New England IPA - 9.5% ABV

So. Much. Mango. An amped up version of Flume (obviously). Usually IPA's this strong are too sweet, but this one isn't. Just an outrageous amount of flavor.

Battery Steele Flume Lite
Session New England IPA - 4.8% ABV
Pete
Damn good session, really just a toned down version of the original. About as good of a beer I've ever had with 'lite' or 'light' in the name.

Battery Steele Looming Illusion Mango, Orange, Pineapple, Coconut, & Vanilla
Gose - 7.4% ABV

This is just a fruit smoothie masquerading as a beer. Mostly mango and pineapple, so obviously it's delicious.
