Barrel House Z

Weymouth, MA
Pete - I visited the taproom at ~8pm on a Saturday in April. They appear to have live music, though none was playing while I was there. They have a bunch of beers on tap, and offer 5oz pours for anywhere from $2.50-$3ish, so you can try a bunch. Pretty small-ish area in the taproom, but they also have a space reserved in the barrel room that you can hang out in, where people were playing cornhole while I was there. They have a bunch of board games too, including Lord of the Rings Risk. Might have to go there for like 8 days in a row from open to close in order to complete a game of that, though I suspect alcohol will speed up Risk games. They also have a bunch of beer to go.

Belgian Milkshake IPA - 4.3% ABV

Definitely get the Belgian portion, though I don't really get any 'milkshake IPA' flavors or textures. Still, a pretty solid Belgian beer.

Great stout. I believe the flavor I tasted the most was toffee, but I wasn't sure (I was very drunk, I trust my drunk ratings of beers if I actually formed coherent words when I described the beer).

Barrel House Z BAM BAM
Imperial IPA - 8.8% ABV

Smells like a citrus bomb. Tropical citrus flavors mostly, maybe a tiny tiny hint of bitterness to balance it, and there's no way you would think this was strong.

Very good IPA. It's malty going down, with a pretty bitter finish that isn't overwhelming. Enjoy.

Solid light peachy fruit beer. Easy to drink.

Belgian Strong Golden Ale - 8.8% ABV

It's funky and it's boozy, not really a great combination.

Perfect summer beer. Tropical fruit flavors, very small hint of coconut, tiny bit sour, and super refreshing. Drink outside if possible.

Barrel House Z Sunny & 79 - Tequila Aged
Pilsner - 6.3% ABV
Pete
I think tequila barrel aged beers should be a thing, and pilsners take really well to adding flavors, since they don't have much on their own. This has got a little bit of spice to it. Very hard to describe, but definitely worth trying.

Barrel House Z Townie Strong
Imperial Red Ale - 9.4% ABV

This definitely tastes strong, but it's pretty good. The booziness balances well with the sweetness from the red.

Barrel House Z Zelato Tiramisu Oak Aged Stout
Imperial Stout - 7.1% ABV

Ultra roasty, almost a burnt flavor to this one. I never thought a beer could be too roasty for me, but this one is.
